When You Arrive
The Molokai Airport is very simple. Your bags will be picked up in the lobby and you will be picked up by van or taxi transportation taking you to the Hui Ho’olana retreat center.
The spirit of the land will greet you with a message, aloha, slow down this is Molokai.
If you do not arrive within the group pick up times on June 2, you’ll be responsible for getting from the airport to the Hui at your own expense. You can use the rental car/taxi service information provided below.
rental car/taxi service
There are five car rental options on the island; Alamo (888) 826-6893 alamo.com at the airport, Molokai Car Rental (808) 336-0670 molokai-car-rental.com. Discount Hawaii (888) 253-3224 discounthawaii.com, Aloha Rents aloharents.com. Taxi service from the airport or the ferry can be arranged through; Hele Mai Taxi at 808-336-0967 or 808-646-9060 or Molokai Off-Road Tours & Taxi at 808-553-3369.
We recommend booking Hele Mai Taxi at least 3 weeks in advance. We had a great experience with their service in 2017.
Vehicles for island tours/field trips are not provided. Car rentals are limited on the island & often sell out. We recommend booking a rental 2-3 weeks in advance of retreat to get availability. If you plan on getting a rental car, please inform the retreat coordinator.
day to explore
One day during the retreat will be largely unscheduled for participants to explore the island or simply relax & integrate the retreat experience.
The Hui is on 100 acres with miles of walking & hiking paths to immerse your be.ing experience with nature.
Travel to the beach (Halawa Valley pictured here) & into town is also possible, encouraging folks to carpool. We may also be able to use a van, if enough people are interested.
"May you go well"
On your final day of the retreat, we ensure your transition from Moloka'i to your next destination is acknowledged through a closing ceremony.
You will also be responsible for taking your personal wooden jo "staff" with you.
The Hui art gallery will be open for you to view beautiful art, clothing, jewelry & other souvenirs. In the event you want to bring a keepsake home, they accept cash or credit card for purchases.
